        COUNCIL BLUFFS - The Glenwood defense couldn’t contain the all-purpose running of Council Bluffs Lewis Central’s Alex Reed and never found its own rhythm on offense in a 35-0 loss to the Titans on Friday.

        MALVERN – East Mills scored early and often Friday night as the Wolverines overwhelmed visiting Sidney, 57-20 in District 8 eight-man football action.

        The East Mills volleyball team grabbed its second win of the season on Saturday while going 1-2 at the East Union Tournament in Afton.

  • Cooper third, Rams fourth at Corning Invitational

        The Glenwood girls cross country team placed four runners in the top 20 and fourth in the team standings at the Corning Invitational on Thursday.

  • Deadline Nears

    Mills County is now taking applications for Iowa Disaster Assistance from individuals affected by the hail storms on Aug. 18 and Aug. 22 as well as from those individuals and families who have had flood-related expenses.

        Applicants must meet the income requirements and present receipts for expenditures related to either event listed above. Expenses must fit into the application guidelines with a maximum reimbursement amount of $5,000 per household.  

  • Glenwood struggles to 1-3 finish at Atlantic Tourney

        The Glenwood volleyball team was 1-3 on Saturday at the Atlantic Tournament.
        The Rams struggled hitting and made too many errors, coach Kara Huisman said.
        “We did not play well at all,” Huisman said. “There’s not much else to say, we had way too many  unforced errors and just didn’t play well.”
        The Rams dropped their first two matches to Winterset and Harlan before getting a win over Underwood.

  • Plattsmouth edges Glenwood at LC Invite

        Mark Abrams won his third meet of the season but Plattsmouth edged Glenwood in the team standings to prevent the Rams from doing the same at the Council Bluffs Lewis Central Invite on Saturday at Iowa Western Community College.

  • Cyclones sack Glenwood, 42-6

        Glenwood turned the ball over three times leading to 14 points and Harlan used a balanced offense to hand the Rams a 42-6 loss in Class 3A, District 8 football on Friday.
        The Class 3A state ranked No. 7 Cyclones wasted little time jumping on the 0-2 Rams, marching 63 yards in just four plays and a little over a minute on the clock to go up 7-0.

  • Schafer comes up big in Wolverine win

        Luke Schafer threw for a school-record seven touchdown passes and the East Mills football team defeated Stanton for the first time in four years with a dominating 48-12 victory on Friday in the Eight-Man, District 8 opener for both teams.
        “These kids that are seniors, when they were freshmen they got torched pretty good by them and it was closer their sophomore year and then last year, I think they felt like they out-played Stanton and kind of blew it,” said East Mills coach Kevin Schafer.
