Glenwood Community School District Superintendent Devin Embray hopes a procedural change to the district’s construction bid process and how those contracts are awarded can prevent the kind of issues that have shrouded a concession stand project in controversy and resulted in a board member’s resignation.

Kreg Kinzle, Mike Pomerenke and Mike Schmidt have devoted nearly their entire professional careers to the education of children in the Glenwood Community School District. Between the three of them, they share more than a century of teaching experience in the district – 104 years to be exact.

On Tuesday, the three retiring teachers spent their final day in a classroom setting.
Understandably, it was a bittersweet day.
“I’m going to really miss the kids and my colleagues,” Pomerenke said. “When you’ve done something like this for 37 years, it just becomes a part of your life.”

TABOR - Representatives from the Sidney and Fremont-Mills boards of education are scheduled to meet in Tabor tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 23) to discuss opportunities to expand the sharing of resources between the two school districts.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Fremont-Mills School Media Center.

The two districts, both members of the Corner Conference, currently share resources and expenses in several areas, including transportation, maintenance and business services.

The third time did indeed turn out to be the charm for the Glenwood Community School District Instructional Support Levy (ISL).

The special levy, which will help fund the district’s curriculum needs, passed by a narrow 51-49 percent margin last Tuesday. The levy received 868 “Yes” votes and 839 “No” votes.
