  • Alyssa Stege-Tompsett and Michael Mayberry are planning an Aug. 28, 2009, wedding at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Neb.

    Parents of the couple are Marlene Stege and James Tompsett of Lincoln, Neb., and Tim and Mary Mayberry of Glenwood.

    The bride-elect attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Her fiance graduated with an associate’s degree in criminal justice from ITT Technical Institute and is currently working at First National Bank.

  • Rev. Don and Mary Jo Maynard will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows at Heritage Hills Church of the Nazarene in Papillion, Neb., on Sunday, June 21, 2009, at the close of the morning worship service. Rev. and Mrs. Maynard were married June 19, 1959, at West Side Church of the Nazarene in Indianapolis, Ind.

    Rev. Maynard served as pastor of the Glenwood Church of the Nazarene from October 1986 until his retirement in 2001.

    The Maynards have two children, Kimberly Maynard and Jonathan Maynard, both of Omaha, and three grandsons.

  • Richard and Kathy Dix of Glenwood will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Friday, April 3.

    Mr. and Mrs. Dix were united in marriage on April 3, 1969, at the Silver City Methodist Church by Rev. LeRoy Pullman.

    They have two children - Becky Killpack and Ronda Dix - and

    two grandchildren.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bales of Glenwood will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Feb. 28.

    The couple was married in Braddyville on Feb. 28, 1959.

    The couple’s children, Roni McCreary and Tony Bales, along with their families, will host an open house for family and friends in the Glenwood Public Library Annex on Sunday, March 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Dyle and Nancy Downing will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an open house on Sunday, Feb. 15, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood.

    The Downings were married Feb. 15, 1959, at the home of the bride’s parents in Henderson.

    Serving as hosts for the event will be their son, Dennis and wife Shirley of Olathe, Kan., and son Darrin from Joplin, Mo. The Downings have five grandchildren
