  • Tractors Headed To Belgium

    Five antique tractors from Mills County have begun a month-long journey to their new home in western Europe.

        The tractors were among 25 sold during an auction last month at the Robert Leick property north of Glenwood. Four of the tractors sold to online bidder Marc Geerkens of Belgium belonged to Leick. The fifth was owned by Elmer Niemoller of Mineola.

  • Santa Began As Hobby For Glenwood Man

    Glenwood resident Bob Fisher started a holiday hobby that has lasted for 10 years -because of his son’s wedding.

        Fisher’s son, Christian, asked all the men in his wedding party to grow beards for the big day. Bob had never grown a beard , but eventually agreed.
        Bob’s wife, Jan, liked the sight of him with a beard and encouraged him to keep it after the wedding. At that point, she got an idea.

        Lisa Lothrop and Matthew Stewart have announced their engagement. Ms. Lothrop and her fiance are planning a June 17, 2011, wedding at Havelock United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Neb.

        The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dr. Robert and Rhonda Lothrop of Glenwood. Her fiance’s parents are David and Brenda Stewart of Murdock, Neb.

        Ashlee Ranee Aldana and Jason Austin Miller, both of Nebraska City, Neb., have announced their engagement and approaching marriage.


        The bride-elect is the daughter of Jose and Paula Aldana of Nebraska City.
        Her fiance is the son of Christina Androy and the late Gilbert Androy of Malvern, and Jeffery and Shirley Miller of Hastings.
        An Oct. 16, 2010, wedding is planned at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City.
