        Ruby Wilkinson celebrated her 93rd birthday on Sunday.  On Saturday night some of her family treated her for supper at Johnny’s in Red Oak. Those present were: Ronda Kohrs of Kansas City, Randy and Tanya Wilkinson of Aurelia, Ronnie and Linda Wilkinson of Red Oak, and Bob and Maxine Wilkinson of Emerson. Ronda was an overnight guest. Other callers on Sunday were Carl and Maxine Brandt and Mike and Nancy Randall. We hope you had a dandy birthday, Ruby.

        Following hospitalization, Mildred Hardy spent two weeks in Unadilla, Neb., with Deb and Howard Isaacs. She returned to her home in Malvern Thursday, March 22. Randy Hardy of St. Joseph, Mo., has spent some time with Mildred.
        Raburn and Dixie Benton spent the month of February in Destin, Fla. While there, Raburn attended the Richard Brock Ag Symposium. They also visited Maida McClure, a former Malvern resident.

  • ENGAGEMENT - Kristina Jens / Brock Spangenberg

    Brock Spangenberg and Kristina Jens of Council Bluffs have announced their engagement.

        Spangenberg is the son of Randy and Angie Spangenberg of Red Oak. He played baseball at Highland Community College and Upper Iowa University, where he graduated with a degree in marketing. He is currently working at Farm Bureau Financial Services.

        Deepest sympathy to Bev Howard and her family on the loss of her great-grandson, “Little Charlie.” He was born and passed  Friday, March 16, at Mercy in Council Bluffs. His parents are Brett and Ranita Hiller and grandfather is Donnie Howard.
        Frances Clapper is home from New Mexico after a couple weeks there with her family. She enjoys the time with those little ones so much.

  • Glenwood’s Giving Garden receives funds

    The Mills County Board of Supervisors voted to allot $1,500 from the Community Betterment Local Option Sales Tax Fund in support of Glenwood’s Giving Garden.   The funds will allow for an irrigation system to be installed at the garden site. The organizers of the garden would like to express their appreciation to the Board of Supervisors for this generous gift, which will greatly enhance the operation of the garden.
