  • WEDDING - Matthew Aporta/Mary Beth LaRue

    Mary Beth LaRue and Matthew Aporta were united in marriage April 6, 2013, at the historic Santa Margarita Ranch in Santa Margarita, Calif. The ceremony was officiated by David Lynch.

        The bride is the daughter of Dick and Linda LaRue of Glenwood. The groom is the son of John Aporta and Micael Tsavaris of New York, N.Y.
        John LaRue, brother of the bride, served as the man of honor. Two of the bridesmaids were Blaire Winum Schnebel and Ashley Turner of Glenwood.

    Alana Unger and Austin Fredrickson, both of Glenwood, exchanged wedding vows in Negril, Jamaica, on Feb. 25, 2012.

        The bride is the daughter of Rick and Lynda Unger of Glenwood. The groom is the son of Tony and Jody Fredrickson of Glenwood.
        Alexis Unger, sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor. The best man was Josh Fredrickson, brother of the groom.
        A June 16 wedding reception is being planned.

    Katie Evans and Eric Hakos, both of Omaha, exchanged vows Feb. 17, 2012, during their destination wedding in Keystone, Colo.

        The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Michelle Evans of Glenwood. The groom is the son of Dorothy and Tom Hakos of Maryland.
        Abbey and Rachael Evans, sisters of the bride, served as bridesmaids. The best man was Chris Hakos, brother of the groom.

    Brock Spangenberg and Kristina Jens of Council Bluffs have announced their engagement.

        Spangenberg is the son of Randy and Angie Spangenberg of Red Oak. He played baseball at Highland Community College and Upper Iowa University, where he graduated with a degree in marketing. He is currently working at Farm Bureau Financial Services.

    The bride is the daughter of Tom and Deanne Mulholland of Malvern and granddaughter of Don and Suzanne Simmons of Thurman, and Nancy Mulholland of Glenwood.
    The groom is the son of Don and Val DeGroote of New Hartford and the grandson of Clara DeGroote of Parkersburg and Marian Bundy of Cedar Falls.

        Dale and Gayle Spetman are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with a dinner and dance on Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Mineola Community Center.


        The dinner begins at 6 p.m. with the dance to follow from 8 p.m. to midnight.
        The Spetmans were married on Sept. 7, 1985, in the park gazebo on
    Main Street in Silver City.
