        Ruby Wilkinson celebrated her 93rd birthday on Sunday.  On Saturday night some of her family treated her for supper at Johnny’s in Red Oak. Those present were: Ronda Kohrs of Kansas City, Randy and Tanya Wilkinson of Aurelia, Ronnie and Linda Wilkinson of Red Oak, and Bob and Maxine Wilkinson of Emerson. Ronda was an overnight guest. Other callers on Sunday were Carl and Maxine Brandt and Mike and Nancy Randall. We hope you had a dandy birthday, Ruby.

        Following hospitalization, Mildred Hardy spent two weeks in Unadilla, Neb., with Deb and Howard Isaacs. She returned to her home in Malvern Thursday, March 22. Randy Hardy of St. Joseph, Mo., has spent some time with Mildred.
        Raburn and Dixie Benton spent the month of February in Destin, Fla. While there, Raburn attended the Richard Brock Ag Symposium. They also visited Maida McClure, a former Malvern resident.

        Deepest sympathy to Bev Howard and her family on the loss of her great-grandson, “Little Charlie.” He was born and passed  Friday, March 16, at Mercy in Council Bluffs. His parents are Brett and Ranita Hiller and grandfather is Donnie Howard.
        Frances Clapper is home from New Mexico after a couple weeks there with her family. She enjoys the time with those little ones so much.

        Enjoying a St. Patrick’s Day dinner Sunday, March 18 with Roger and Orla Jean Jackson in their home were Lola Hasselquist, Calvin and LaDonna Deitchler and Vernita and Norman Kruse.
        The Ladies Aid of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Hastings, met Wednesday, March 14, at the church.

    Class of 1948, Glenwood High School presented “Art of Fielding” by Chad Harbach, given in memory of Don Marr.
        Claire Osterholm presented “Destiny of the Republic: a Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President” by Candice Millard, given in memory of Robert D. “Bob” Osterholm.
        Sam and Nancy Lee presented “Borrower” by Rebecca Makkai, given in memory of Ron Perkins.

        We hope you are enjoying the spring weather. The spring flowers and magnolia trees are so pretty.
        Little Evan, infant son of Nicole and Mark Stephens, was honored with a shower on Saturday afternoon at the Slump home. Hostesses were Neva Slump, Judy Magers, Vicky Putnam and Maxine Brandt.

        My it was 80° yesterday – so it seems like spring has arrived. Sounds like it is going to stay very warm for the next few days.
        Neva and De Laine Slump and Darrell and Bev Lewis spent several days at their respective Lake of the Ozark homes.
        Taylor Lauridsen and Tyler Skokan of Mineola were visitors with Ken and Mary Lauridsen one day last week.
