The East Mills boys track team earned six bids to this week’s state track meet at the Class 1A, District 9 track meet held at Mount Ayr on Friday.
The Iowa State Track Meet runs Thursday through Saturday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
The Wolverines’ Jake Bolton and Kyle Steiner both earned bids in the 100-meter dash at districts. Both will make their state sprint debuts in the event on Thursday at 10:55 a.m.
Brandon Clemmons won a spot in the 200-meter dash at districts and was a part of the Wolverines’ 4x200-meter relay team along with Nathen Day, Nick Pittmon and Bolton and 4x100-meter relay team of Steiner, Pittmon and Bolton that also advanced to state.
Dylan Larsen will represent East Mills at state in the shot put.
For Fremont-Mills, Tym Wood qualified for both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs for the second straight year after his performance at Mount Ayr.
Also for the Knights, Zach Desormeaux and Jeremiah Fichter both punched tickets in the 110-meter high hurdles and as part of the shuttle hurdle relay team with A.J. Scarborough and Nate Meier.
The Knights 4x400-meter relay team of Austin Hansen, Cody Gray, Nick Williams and Trevan Hetzel earned a spot at state as did the 4x800-meter relay team of Wood, Hansen, Williams and Hetzel.
Scarborough was the Knights’ lone field qualifier, advancing to state in the discus after winning the same event at the Corner Conference meet.
