Fremont-Mills’ senior football players Seth Phillips and Clayton Wilson have both been named first team all-state by the Iowa Newspaper Association.
The team, released last week, tabbed Phillips as an offensive lineman and Wilson as a linebacker on the 21-member first team in the Eight-Man class.
Phillips, a 6-foot, 230-pounder, was a four-year starter on the offensive line. He also led the 8-2 Knights with 102 tackles from his linebacker position.
Wilson, who led the Knights in rushing with 1,063 yards on the ground while scoring 28 total touchdowns, was named to the team as a linebacker. The 6-foot-4, 215 pound senior wrapped up 47 tackles, picked off four passes and recovered three fumbles this season.
Joining Phillips and Wilson on the team was senior defensive end Mark Hall. Hall was a second team selection after recording 86 tackles, including 19 for loss and eight sacks.
Austin Halls of Murray was named the Eight-Man team’s honorary captain.
