Glenwood Man Injured In I-29 Rollover Accident

A 35-year-old Glenwood man is continuing his recovery from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle rollover accident Wednesday, April 13, near the southbound rest area on Interstate 29 in western Mills County.

An investigation by the Iowa State Patrol determined Aaron R. Dempsey was driving a 1998 Ford dump truck southbound on Interstate 29 shortly after 2 p.m. when a blown front tire caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The truck entered the west ditch and rolled before coming to a rest on the driver’s side. Extrication equipment was required to remove the driver from the vehicle and he was transported by medical helicopter to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha.
Dempsey sustained multiple fractures and internal injuries. He remains hospitalized at Creighton.
The truck, owned by Leick Landscaping, was hauling contaminated dirt to a dump site. Clean-up crews removed the spilled dirt from the accident site at the direction of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The vehicle was determined to be a total loss.
