The Mills County Attorney’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for Miles Ryan Pein in the theft and arson of a trailer stolen from Glenwood Community Church.
Mills County Sheriff’s Deputy Bruce Paulsen said Pein, 25, is in custody in Montgomery County on unrelated charges.
Pein is alleged to have stolen a trailer loaded with items for a church mission trip to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in the early morning hours of June 16. The trailer was found on fire early Saturday morning. The contents had been looted.
Pein was arrested on the afternoon of June 16 by Montgomery County Sheriff Deputies on numerous charges following a traffic stop and high-speed pursuit four miles east of Red Oak. Pein was clocked at 81-miles per hour on 210th Street and fled the scene when deputies attempted to pull him over. After  a short pursuit, Pein crashed his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado into a ditch and fled on foot but was apprehended at the scene.
Pein is being held in the Montgomery County Jail pending extradition to Mills County on their charges. He has been charges with possession of a controlled substance but has not yet been charged on the traffic offenses.
The Mills County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
