Harlan used a 10-0 run to close out the third quarter to pull away from Glenwood for a 71-40 Hawkeye 10 Conference girls basketball victory Friday.
The Class 3A, No. 1 ranked Cyclones opened the game with hot shooting rolling up a 9-0 lead and a 15-3 spread after a quarter. Glenwood cut the lead to 20-12 midway through the second quarter but Harlan stretched its out to 30-17 at the half.
The Rams came out of the locker on a 6-1 run and trailed just 31-23 with five minutes left in the third period. But the Cyclones responded and put the game out of reach with 10 straights points to extend their lead to 55-28 heading into the final frame.
Taylor Wagner and Jordyn Moser led the way with 18 points each for Harlan (12-0 overall, 7-0 in the conference).
Bailey Starner’s 9 points led Glenwood. The Rams drop to 8-5 overall and 6-2 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference on the season.

Bailey Starner’s three pointer in the final minute secured the win as Glenwood edged Council Bluffs St. Albert 44-40 Friday.
Sydney Gutschenritter paced Glenwood with 13 points. Starner added nine.
