St. Albert scored early and often Friday night as the Falcons rolled to a lopsided 42-7 win over Glenwood in the Rams' 2010 home opener.

St. Albert, ranked No. 1 in Class 1A, set the tone for the night on the Falcons' first offensive play of the game as quarterback J.D. Culjat teamed up with Jake Gentile on a 73-yard touchdown pass. After Glenwood turned the football over on its ensuing possession, St. Albert would need just one play again to score its second TD - a 29-yard scoring toss from Culjat to Steve O'Neil. The Falcons were up 14-0 before late-arriving fans were even settled into their seats.
Giving up two touchdowns in two plays to start the game left the Glenwood defense stunned.
“That’s a tough situation,” Glenwood coach Brian Albert said, “But I’m disappointed our guys didn’t respond and make a better effort. We’re still young. Most of our guys are only starting their second game.”
The Falcons scored touchdowns on their first four offensive possessions to build a 28-0 halftime advantage.
While St. Albert’s high-octane offense was causing problems for Glenwood defenders, the Rams offense struggled to solve the Falcons’ defense. Glenwood quarterback Jon Williams did pass for over 200 yards in the game, but had pressure in his face much of the game. He was sacked four times.
Glenwood’s running game was grounded for most of the night as the Rams finished with negative rushing yards.
“We’re looking for some some consistancy,” Albert said. “We need to keep working at it and getting better. We’ve got to improve every week.”
The Rams’ lone touchdown of the night came in the fourth quarter when Williams hooked up with Ian Eflin on a 34-yard TD pass.

Despite the Falcons' defensive pressure, Williams did a good job of spreading the ball out to his receivers, completing 16 of 25 passes for 223 yards. Eflin had four receptions for 103 yards and Cole Darrow hauled in six receptions for 89 yards.
Gentile was the game’s leading rusher, accumulating 124 yards on 14 carries. Culjat completed 10 of 15 passes for 160 yards.
The loss dropped Glenwood’s record to 1-1 on the season. St. Albert is 2-0.
For the Rams, the road doesn’t get any easier as they begin district play this week at Harlan, a perennial Class 3A powerhouse.
"We need to build up some confidence for the games we have down the road," Albert said.
