The Glenwood boys soccer team scored three first-half goals in a 3-1 win over Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson on Friday.

“We played a pretty good game,” said Glenwood coach Mike Artist. “We kept pushing, passed the ball well and took advantage of our opportunities.”

After first half goals by Brian Lilly, Joey Stivers and Josh Keim, the Yellowjackets finally got on the board late in the game with its only goal. Ram goalie Matt Schultz stopped seven of the eight shots he faced and used his aggressive play to thwart several Thomas Jefferson offensive threats.

“He made a lot of good decisions, coming out of the box and grabbing some passes and some shots,” said Artist of his goal keeper.

The Rams improve to 2-3 after dropping three straight at the Norwalk Invitational last weekend.

“We showed a lot of improvement from last week. We showed a lot of pride in coming back like we did to play this well,” said Artist.
