A preliminary investigation by the Mills County Sheriff’s Office has determined that a 57-year-old Glenwood woman took her own life over the weekend at a popular Mills County recreation area.
The body of Ramona Dynek, 57, of Glenwood, and the body of her dog were found dead around 5:45 a.m. Sunday morning near a picnic shelter at Pony Creek Lake in western Mills County.
Chief Deputy Bruce Paulsen said Ms. Dynek and the dog both appeared to have died from a single gunshot wound.
Glenwood Fire and Rescue personnel were dispatched to the park Sunday morning. Ms. Dynek was pronounced dead by the Mills County Coroner. Her body was transported to Douglas County (Omaha) for an autopsy. The dog’s body was taken to the Loess Hills Humane Society.
Paulsen said Ms. Dynek’s death is still under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.
