Stanton downs FM in Corner Conference semifinals

    Stanton downed Fremont-Mills 25-17, 25-19, 25-16 in the second round of the Corner Conference tournament last Tuesday.
    Taryn Williams led the Knights (13-5 overall, 5-1 in the conference) with 10 kills. Madison Powers added six kills and Macy Williams five.
    Kendall Fichter had 18 assists.


Fremont-Mills 25-25-25
Sidney 15-17-23
    The Fremont-Mills volleyball team defeated Sidney 25-15, 25-17, 25-23 in the Corner Conference tournament opening round last Monday.
    The Knights pounded 27 kills in the win with Madison Powers recording 10 kills and Taryn Williams nine.
    Powers and Fichter each recorded 24 assists.
    Fichter led with six ace serves.

Villisca 25-25-25
East Mills 18-12-21
    Villisca knocked off East Mills 25-18, 25-12, 25-21 in the Corner Conference Tournament opening round on last Monday.
“Last night's match was disappointing.  Not just because we lost, but how we played,” said East Mills coach Connie Blank. “We struggled with miscommunications, passing and hitting errors all night.  We started putting it together in the third game but that wasn't enough.”
  A bright spot for the Wolverines was their 94 percent serving.
Amanda Bazer led East Mills with seven kills. Emily Ray, Jessika Lynn and Devin Laughlin added four each.  Bazer added five blocks.
Laughlin dished up nine assists and had nine digs.
Kelsey Croghan served 12-of-12 with three aces and Jessie Doyle 14-of-14 with an ace.
