Pastor’s Notes
I pray that God has blessed you in all you have done and in all that you will do.
April, I think, is going to be somewhat the same this year, windy and ready to change at any time. But April is a great month; you start to see people out on the good days taking advantage of the longer daylight hours and higher temps. The farmers are looking at getting everything ready for the seeds that they will plant. And others are thinking about gardens and planting potatoes on Good Friday and what seeds and plants they will put in the ground in hopes of some fresh home grown food.
God is also watching the seed that has been planted within each of us, that seed of faith, which produces hope and hope does not fail us. The writer of Hebrews puts it this way; ‘Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.’
Farmers have faith the seed they put into the ground will grow into a stalk that will produce. Their faith is in the hope the seed will grow even though they cannot see it in the ground. They are certain, with the right elements, it will grow.
God’s seed that is planted within us is the same way. It will lay dormant, undeveloped, if the conditions are not right for it to grow, but the seed is always there waiting for the right elements, the right conditions to grow and produce fruit. Those conditions we may not even know are happening in our lives, but God knows and when that seed begins to grow, things will change and we will be amazed at what has and is going to happen.
We end the Lenten season by coming to the Easter morning resurrection and I hope that the seed God has planted within you has been watered and is starting to grow. Easter is the most wonderful time of the year because all of us have been given the most precious gift that can ever be imagined; Christ has risen from the grave to show us the way. Ephesians 2:8-10 tells us: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Be that person that God created you to be, not what the world is telling you to be. “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
May your seed of faith grow into a mighty tree for all to see and for some to find shelter under. Amen.
