The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is not just a single yearly event that occurs in communities around the world. Relay is an ongoing 365-day process binding us together towards our ultimate goal of finding a cure. Two Relay events are planned for this Saturday, March 21, each sponsored by a team whose priorities have been changed due to family or friends battling cancer.
The Keith Klan is sponsoring a basketball fundraiser starting at 3 p.m. at the Glenwood High School gym. The "Hot Pink Grannies" from Des Moines will take on the Glenwood Relay Relics. Admission is a free will offering and food is available. If you have questions, call Karen Reinert at 526-2062.
The Taylor Ties are sponsoring "Girls Gone Wild," an all night event at the American Legion in Glenwood. All women 21 and older are encouraged to attend. Wear your pajamas or leisure wear and bring a pillow and blanket if you wish. Entertainment for the event will include music and karaoke, a big screen movie with popcorn, all night bridge tables, card and board games, Wii games, demonstrations of pedicures, manicures make-up, self defense demonstration, chocolate fountain, midnight munchies, wine tasting and a silent auction. The Legion will have a cash bar until 2 a.m. Check-in time is between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. and check out when you wish or after coffee and pastries at 5 to 5:30 a.m. Tickets are $20 and are limited to the first 150 females. Advance tickets may be purchased at Glenwood State Bank, First National Bank, Jim Hughes Real Estate, DeShawne Bird-Sell Law Office, Joyfully Yours in Malvern or at the door. If you have questions, call Deb Taylor at 527-9690.
