The Glenwood girls basketball team improved to 16-5 on the season with an impressive 65-36 rout of Denison on Friday on the road in Hawkeye 10 Conference play.
Glenwood jumped out to an early 10-2 lead, but the Monarchs answered to pull within a point at 12-11 to end the first quarter.
The game went back and forth during a fast paced second quarter, but each time Denison closed the gap, the Rams responded with a run of their own to keep the lead.
Ana Van Scoy’s shot at the haftime buzzer gave the Rams a big lift and a 10-point halftime lead. Glenwood played their best ball of the season, according to Loeffelbein, during a big third quarter in which they outscored Denison 17-2. The Monarchs never got closer than 25 points the rest of the way.
Lexi Fisher led Glenwood with 17 points. Lexie Moreno and Grace Newman added 13 each.
Brittnie Fremml and Bailey Ellerbeck had eight each for Denison.
The Glenwood girls scored a season-high 82 points in an 82-26 Hawkeye 10 Conference rout of Shenandoah last Tuesday.
The Rams led 22-6 after a quarter and 46-9 at halftime in the win.
Lexi Fisher led all-scorers with 16 points for Glenwood. Morgan Lucy added 14 points and seven rebounds. Grace Newman added nine points and Rachel DeYoung and Kierney Motz kicked in with eight each.
Jourdan Perkins led Shenandoah with eight points.
