A good day for the Glenwood relay teams and a strong individual day from Lydia Bienlien helped lead the Glenwood girls to a third place at the Ram Relays on Thursday.

The Rams' 76 team points trailed second place Harlan's 145. Atlantic was the team champion with 161 points.

“Everybody did their part to make this a competitive meet,” said Glenwood coach Brad Rasmussen.

Lydia Bienlien won a gold medal in the 400-meters, placed third in the long jump and ran the anchor leg of the Rams's second place finishing sprint medley relay.

The Rams added third place finishes in the 4x800 and 4x200-meter relay teams. The 4x200-meter relay time 1:51.99 was a season-best.

“That time was three seconds faster than our best time last season,” said Glenwood coach Brad Ramussen.

Katie Larsen added a fifth place finish in the 400-meters to give the Rams a pair of medal winners.

Jordan Ruhr set a pair of personal bests in the shot put and the discus, placing fifth in both events.

at Sioux City

The Glenwood girls track team traveled to the Sioux City Relays on Saturday on the campus of Morningside College.

“They ran this meet like mini-Drake Relays with seedings and everything,” said Glenwood coach Brad Rasmussen. “And if you look at our seeds, we bettered them in about every event.”

The Rams earned a pair of fourth-place finishes at the meet from their 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams and a fifth-place finish in the shuttle hurdle relay.

Katie Larsen's time of 11:49.33 was Glenwood's ninth best time ever in the 3,000-meters and 18 seconds better than Larsen's previous personal best.

Shaniece Nott added a fourth-place finish in the 100-meters.
