The Glenwood volleyball team improved to 5-2 on the season with a sweep of Omaha Roncalli and Omaha South at home Thursday.
The Rams knocked Roncalli 25-15, 25-23 in the opener and then followed that up with a dominating sweep of South, 25-10, 25-8.
“Very solid games for us,” said Glenwood coach Maria Jacobus. “We had great passing and defense which allowed us to do more offensively.”
The Rams combined for 43 kills in the two wins.
Courtney Magnussen led with 10 kills. Megan Crouch finished with 19 set assists.
The Glenwood volleyball team got its first Hawkeye 10 Conference win of the season last Tuesday with a 25-17, 25-6, 22-25, 25-10 win over Atlantic.
“It was a good game for us, with the exception of the third set,” said Glenwood coach Maria Jacobus. “There was a line-up issue at the scorer’s table that caused a 10-minute delay with the set at 4-2 when we were ahead. We lost our focus during that time and defense was a struggle for the rest of the set. However, we bounced back in the fourth and won the match.”
The Rams were led by Halie Darrow with 12 kills. Courtney Magnussen, Jana King and Kali Mumm each added six kills. Myranda Starner led the charge from the service line with seven aces. Magnussen and Mumm each added 5 blocks.
“Our hitting efficiency was much improved over our performance at the Harlan Tournament. Our on-target percentage from serve receive was also higher last night,” Jacobus said. “We were more aggressive at the net and I was happy with our defensive play.”
