The Glenwood girls soccer team kicked off their 2011 season on Monday with a 3-0 victory over Council Bluffs St. Albert.
The Rams, ranked No. 5 in the Class 3A preseason rankings by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, got their first goal of the season when Mallory Hoyt put a penalty kick in during the 35th minute of play after an illegal tackle penalty on the Saintes.
Glenwood fired back just two minutes later when Michaela Moore punched in a goal off a nice crossing pass from Derrin Williams. The Rams' final goal of the evening came during the second half when Moore put in a header off of Malloy Hoyt's boot.
In the junior varsity match, the Rams won a shootout on a game-winning boot by Kelsey Kruse on the fifth and final shot.
