Michaela Moore scored three goals as the Glenwood girls soccer team remained undefeated on the season with a 5-0 win over Creston on Friday.
The Rams (9-0 overall, 5-0 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference) led 3-0 at halftime despite being without head coach Brad Silvey. Silvey, who had a prior commitment with his other duties as an assistant soccer coach at Iowa Western Community College, arrived at halftime to his team’s comfortable lead.
“It was another one of those game where we out possessed them,” said Silvey. “The hardest part for us was getting through their pack-style defense.”
Moore scored one goal in the first half and added two more after halftime. The freshman leads the Rams in goals this season. Glenwood has outscored its opponents 32-3 this season.
“She’s a heck of a player,” Selvey said of Moore.
Mallory Hoyt and Alyssia Valqueir each added goals.
In Class 1A regionals pairings released last week, Glenwood is scheduled to play Riverside at home in its Region 2 opener on June 2. If Glenwood wins they will play the winner of Council Bluffs Lewis Central and Council Bluffs Lewis Central on June 5.
