Shenandoah defeated Glenwood 8-1 in a Hawkeye 10 Conference girls tennis match played indoors at the Montgomery County YMCA last Wednesday due to weather.

The Rams played very well despite the lopsided score, said Glenwood coach Callie Ohm.

Maggie Finnegan, the Rams’ No. 2 player, recorded the lone victory in the dual with a 9-7 singles victory over the Fillies’ Jordan Major. Finnegan then went on to team up with Jana King at the No. 1 doubles for a close loss to Heidi Fichter and Major.

King and Finnegan were down 4-1 in the match at one point but the pair stepped up their play to take a 7-6 lead.  The battle continued but Shenandoah won the final three games to win the match 9 - 7.

“Finnegan shined in both her singles and doubles matches,” said Ohm. “Both of Finnegan’s matches were tough.
