Carlie Cooper placed first in the 3,000-meters for Glenwood at the Sioux City Relays on Saturday at Morningside College.
On a cold and rainy day, the Rams competed without several of their athletes due to prom preparations for that evening in Glenwood. Despite missing some top runners, the Rams did put up some good performances at the meet.
Cooper's time of 11:48.27 won the 3000 meter run and teammate Morgan Naughton finished sixth.
The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Cooper, Bailey Starner, Emily Blum and Lisa Nebel ran its best outdoor time of the season with a 10:37.84.
Mercedes Liparoto finished fourth in the Elite 100-meter hurdle race.
Starner finished fifth in the 800 meter run while Cassie Kruse made it to finals in the discus (throwing a personal-best 100' 3'') before finishing seventh.  Kruse also added a seventh-place finish in the shot.
Glenwood third
at Relays
The Glenwood girls track team improved on last year's fifth-place finish at its own Ram Relays with a third-place finish this season.
On a cold, rainy night, Harlan was the meet champion with 178 points. Atlantic was second with 121. Glenwood racked up 87 points.
Complete individual results were not available at time of publication.
Glenwood coach Brad Rasmussen said Mercedes Liparoto (third in the 100-meter hurdles), Carlie Cooper in the 800 meters run and the 4 x 800 relay team of Bailey Starner, Emily Blum, Lisa Nebel and Makayla Nelson all ran well.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Abby Brown, Devin Jackson, Lexi Fisher and Liparoto ran its fastest time of the year in 1:10.9 to place second.  Fisher added a second-place finish in the 400-meters.
The 4 x 400-meter relay team of Cooper, Fisher, Maddie Mead and Kecia Caudill finished off the night strong for Glenwood, placing third.
