The Omaha Community Playhouse will produce “Next to Normal,” the 2010 Pulitzer Prize winner for drama, Feb. 7 – March 16.
“Next to Normal,” by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, is a rock musical and raw account of a family dealing with mental illness, tragedy and the realities of modern society. The plot centers on an overly mediated mother trying to cope with bipolar disorder as her family struggles to maintain normalcy in their suburban home. A hard-driving rock score with tear-inducing ballads make this show unlike any other.
The play earned a 2009 Tony Award for Best Score and Kitt was also Tony-honored for Best Orchestrations.
The show runs Feb. 7 – March 16 in the Howard Drew Theatre at the playhouse. Tickets are available by calling 402-553-0800 or online at www.OmahaPlayhouse.org.
