A Bellevue, Neb., man is facing charges of performing sexual acts with two girls, ages 7 and 8, in Mills County and Sarpy County, Neb.
Johh Schondelmeyer, 64, was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of lascivious acts with a child.
The alleged incidents occurred multiple times in September at a residence in Mills County and Schondelmeyer’s home in Bellevue.
Schondelmeyer was being held in the Mills County Jail. His bail was reduced last week from $70,000 to $35,000 by Mills County District Court Judge James Heckerman.
If convicted in Iowa, Schondelmeyer would face up to 50 years in prison for the two sexual abuse charges and up to 10 years on each count of lascivious acts with a child.
In Nebraska, Schondelmeyer is charged with sexual assault and incest. The sexual assault charges carry a sentence of 15 years to life in prison. For the incest charges, Schondelmeyer would face a minimum of one year imprisonment and a maximum of 20 years in jail and a $25,000 fine on each count if he is found guilty.
Schondelmeyer has denied the allegations in both states.
