East Mills 29
The Sidney girls basketball team blew open a 27-14 halftime lead with 41 second-half points in a 69-29 victory over East Mills last Tuesday.
“We did a much better job of taking care of the ball early in the game, pushing the ball on the fast break, but the second quarter we went back to making some of the mistakes causing turnovers again,” said East Mills coach Brian Bertini. “We did not do a very good job of handling Sidney’s post game.
“We are making progress each and every game, and our intensity and consistency is getting better by putting longer stretches of good basketball together, but we still struggle with taking advantage of good opportunities to score.”
The Wolverines shot just 34.2 percent from the field (12-for-35) and turned the ball over 38 times compared to the Cowgirls 17 turnovers.
Jensen Duysen led East Mills with 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Jordie Uhlenkamp led Sidney with 16 points.
