The Fremont-Mills softball team went 1-2 at the Red Oak Softball Tournament on Saturday.
The Knights (3-3) opened the tournament with a 2-1 victory over Griswold before dropping their final two tournament games 9-1 to Walnut and 4-3 to the host Tigers.
Against Griswold, Knight pitcher Mindy Lorimor fanned 16, allowed just four hits and no earned runs for the win. Shortstop Emily Smith went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Knights’ offense.
Lorimor allowed seven hits and four earned runs against Red Oak to record her first loss of the season.
Lorimor helped her own cause plating all three Knight runs with a three-run home run.
Madison Powers, Jessica Meier, Smith, Lynde Madison and Kendall Fichter each recorded a hit.
Defensive miscues proved costly for the Knights in their 9-1 loss to Walnut with seven of those runs coming unearned.
Powers and Melissa Kesterson each recorded a hit for Fremont-Mills.
Powers also took the loss in the circle allowing three hits and two earned runs.
Mindy Lorimor struck out 12 and smacked two home runs in a 5-1 Fremont-Mills softball victory over Villisca on Friday.
Lorimor also went 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs and four RBIs. In the circle Lorimor allowed just three hits and no earned runs.
Madison Powers also went 3-for-3 and Melissa Kesterson added two hits.
The Fremont-Mills softball team needed just four innings to record a 13-1 “mercy rule” shortened victory over Clarinda last Tuesday.
Mindy Lorimor allowed three hits and a single earned run while striking out seven in the win.
Lorimor added a pair hits and RBIs at the plate and Madison Powers was 3-for-3 with an RBI.

The Red Oak softball team won a 1-0 “pitchers duel” over Fremont-Mills last Monday in the season-opener for both teams.
Mindy Lorimor stuck out 10 and allowed three hits and one run but recorded the loss.
