Randall Jones, 62, of Henderson died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision last Wednesday, Jan. 11, on U.S. Highway 34 in Mills County.
The accident occurred at 5 p.m. two miles east of Malvern, according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol. Jones died at the scene.
Investigators believe icy road conditions  were a factor when Jones’ eastbound 2003 Buick LeSabre collided in the center portion of the highway with a westbound 1997 Ford pickup truck driven by Agustin Argueta, 40, of Omaha. High wind gusts were also prevalent at the time of the accident.
Argueta and two passengers, Hector Gimeniez, 21, and Rubin Antonio Soza Alvarez, both of Omaha, were injured and transported to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha by rescue personnel from Malvern and Glenwood.
The Iowa State Patrol report indicates the investigation into determining which driver lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line is continuing.
