The Glenwood Community School District intends to have its next superintendent selected by the end of next week.
The four finalists for the position are all currently serving as public school superintendents in the state of Iowa. The finalists are Devin Embray of Independence, Dr. John Weidner of Wapello, Dr. Daniel Frazier of Sioux Central and Jeff Herzberg of Sibley-Ocheyedan.
The four finalists will each spend a full day in Glenwood over the next week being interviewed by school board members, district staff and members of the community.
Dr. Thomas Jacobson of McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., a consulting firm hired by the district to assist in the search, said the Glenwood Board of Education would like to have the new superintendent selected by April 15 with a formal announcement of the hiring made as early as April 19.
The new superintendent will assume his duties on July 1, replacing Dr. Stan Sibley, who will retire from the district at the same time.
McPherson & Jacobson has assisted the school district throughout the superintendent search, reviewing, screening and conducting background checks on 18 applicants. The firm presented the applicants to the board of education at a meeting on March 29. The board selected its finalists at that meeting.
McPherson & Jacobson will continue offering its services to the board of education and new superintendent over the next year.
