Cold weather and the unfamiliar confines of Red Oak couldn’t slow the Rams as the Glenwood girls track team came away from the Tiger Relays with its first team title of the season on Friday.
The Rams combined a strong showing in the field events – 54 of the Rams’ 204 team points came from the shot, discus, high jump and long jump – and gold medals in six other running events edged second place Creston by 80 team points.
Rachelle Martin and Cassie Kruse combined for a first and second place showing, respectively, in the discus. Also doubling up for Glenwood was Abby Brown (second) and Sarah Selerno (fifth) in the long jump, Shelby Brewster (first) and Lexi Fisher (second) in the high jump, Kecia Caudill (fourth) and Salerno (fifth) in the 100-meter dash, Ashley Grave (third) and Makayla Nelson (fifth) in the 400-meter dash, Mercedes Liparoto (first) and Brown (second) in the 100-meter hurdles, Fisher (first) and McKenna Henze (second) in the 400-meter hurdles, Caudill (second) and Salerno (fourth) in the 200-meter dash, Morgan Naughton (first) and Kayla Anderson (third) in the 3,000-meter run and Naughton (third) and Emily Blum (fourth) in the 1500-meters.
