The Glenwood girls golf team edged East Mills 232-274 last Tuesday to improve to 2-0 in duals this season.
The Rams were led by Charley Arno's match best round off 55. Morgan Woodrum backed that up with a round of 58 for second.
Chelsee Bird had a round of 59, Cassie Ford shot a 60, Chloe Newman finished with a 63, and Adria Skarnulis a 69 for Glenwood.
In the junior varsity portion, the Rams' Bobi Jo Rockwell took home honors with a 56 that would have placed her second in the varsity match. Chelsea Konfrst added a 60 for Glenwood, thanks to a chip in from 35 feet off the green, said Glenwood coach Kathy Konigsmark.
Katie Flora added a 71 and Jaelin Stanton a 72 for the junior varsity.
“Another qualifying round will take place this week to see how the girls line up against each other,” said Konigsmark. “We have had little practice time so competition among themselves is what keeps them focused.”
Red Oak 263
The Glenwood girls golf team opened its season with a 230-263 dual victory over Red Oak last Monday.
Red Oak's Michelle Burson shot a 56 for top honors.
Leading the way for Glenwood were Cassie Ford and Chelsee Bird, who each shot 57.
Charley Arno and Morgan Woodrum each added rounds of 58 and Chloe Newmann shot a 62 and Adria Skarnulis a 75.
“I was very pleased with the girl’s scores for the first meet,” said Glenwood coach Kathy Konigsmark. “As expected our four returning letterwinners placed in the top four places. Overall, we played very well. Some of the girls had a few bad holes which brought their scores higher than expected.
“I was greatly surprised with the play of first year player Chloe Neumann. She shot a 62 with a chip in off the green for a par and a shot blasted out of the sand for a short putt in.
