The Glenwood girls suffered a 75-38 loss on the road at Harlan in Hawkeye 10 Conference girls basketball Friday.
The 19-0 Cyclones out-scored the Rams 41-13 after halftime in the win.
Glenwood coach Barry Loffelbein said his team hung close the first two quarters but couldn’t hold the Cyclones back in the second half.
“We were right there the first half,” Loeffelbein said. “They came out in the second half hot and then they started running the floor, getting some easy looks. They’re a very good team.”
Loeffelbein wanted to control the paint and make the Cyclones beat his team from the outside. That worked early in the game but Harlan heated up from outside, hitting 11-of-24 three pointers for the game.
“They’re good inside and outside. We tried to take away the inside and they made us pay. You just can’t cover everything but I can’t fault our effort,” Loeffelbein said.
Bailey Starner led the Rams with 19 points. Halie Darrow added 12.
Six Cyclones scored at least nine points with Taylor Wagner leading the way with 16 points.
Glenwood drops to 10-8 overall and 5-4 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference. The Rams host Creston in their post-season opener, Feb. 19 in the Class 4A, Region 8 first round.
