Glenwood boys tennis team drops dual to LC

E.J. Hackett and Cole Peckham claimed their second victories of the season but Council Bluffs Lewis Central came away with the dual win last Monday in Hawkeye 10 Conference tennis.

Hackett, the Rams No. 5 player, handled his opponent winning 8 – 4 while Peckham fought for his win against Ryan Higginbotham, fighting back from down 6-7 to pull out the 9-7 victory.

“He controlled the end of his match by keeping the ball in play and minimizing his own mistakes,” said Glenwood coach Callie Ohm of Peckham.  

The Rams went 2-4 in singles matches before the Titans swept the doubles portion for the 7-2 victory.  
No. 1 - Joe Gunkelman, G, fell to Caleb Shudak, LC, 8-1.

No. 2 - Max Chavez, G, fell to Blake Huber, LC, 8-3.

No. 3 - Chris Chekal, G, fell to Weston Morgan, LC, 8-3.

No. 4 - Justin Fisher, G, fell to Mason Brinkman, LC, 8-1.

No. 5 - EJ Hackett, G, defeated Austin Lear, LC, 8-4.

No. 6 - Cole Peckham, G, defeated Ryan Higginbotham, LC, 9-7.
No. 1 - Gunkelman/Hackett, G, fell to Shudak/Huber, LC, 8-1.

No. 2 - Chavez/Peckam, G, fell to Brinkman/Lear, LC, 8-5.

No. 3 - Chekal/Fisher, G, fell to Morgan/Tim Bunselmeyer, LC, 8-6.
