Glenwood baseball routs Storm Lake in twinbill

The Glenwood baseball team out-scored Storm Lake 28-5 in a pair of double-header victories Friday at A.C. Nuckolls Field.

The Rams (20-9 overall, 13-6 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference) plated seven runs in the first inning of a 13-0, five-inning victory in game one and then came back into the nightcap to smack 19 hits in a 15-5, five-inning win.
Glenwood combined for 28 hits in the double-header.

Nolan Robinson was 5-for-5 in the two games with  four RBIs. Brady Wheeler and Dru Little each recorded four hits and Corey Bertini three for Glenwood.

Wheeler tossed three hitless innings, striking out four, in the game one victory. Zak Mumm was credited with the win in game two after allowing just one hit and striking out two.

Glenwood opens district play against Atlantic (16-10) on Friday in Atlantic. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. The Rams split with the Trojans in the regular season.

Abraham Lincoln 4

Corey Bertini homered in his third straight game and drove in three runs for Glenwood in a 7-4 victory over Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln last Wednesday.

Glenwood scored all seven of its runs in the first two innings and finished with 13 hits. Bertini was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a walk and his Class 3A leading tenth home run of the season.

Cole Loeffelbein recorded three hits and Wyatt Schulz, Cob Baker and Kyle Murtfeld added two hits apiece.
Dru Little earned the win on the hill, scattering six hits and striking out five.

C.B. St. Albert 2

Cob Baker scattered six singles for Glenwood in a 4-2 victory over Council Bluffs St. Albert last Wednesday in the conclusion of a game suspended by rain June 20.

The Rams scored all four of their runs in the first inning and finished with five hits. Nolan Robinson and Corey Bertini each recorded two hits. Bertini smacked a home run and drove in two runs.

Baker struck out six and allowed just one earned run in the victory.

LeMars 4
Glenwood downed LeMars 11-4 in non-conference baseball last Tuesday.

The Rams plated four runs in the first and three more in the second to build a 7-0 lead heading into the fifth inning.
Brady Wheeler and Corey Bertini both homered and drove in two runs for the Rams. Cole Loeffelbein led Glenwood with two hits.

Wyatt Schulz threw a complete-game on the hill, scattering nine hits and three earned runs while striking out eight.
