Glenwood aces Clarinda, 6-3

    The Glenwood girls tennis team defeated Clarinda in Hawkeye 10 Conference tennis play on May 5.

    After dropping a tough 9-7 decision in their No. 1 singles match, the Rams got singles wins from Grace Newman, Montana Crow, Brittney Rodgers and Marley Chavez in the No. 2 through No. 5 matches to take a 4-2 lead in the doubles bracket.
    In the doubles, Rachel Tucker paired with Newman to avenge a singles loss in a 8-5 doubles win. Crow and Rodgers followed that up with a dual, sealing an 8-3 win over Hanna Davison and Morgan Hartley in the No. 2 doubles match.
    “Our doubles teams are really playing well right now and looking forward to the conference championships and district playoffs,” said Glenwood coach Jim Tucker.

    No. 2 – Grace Newman, G, defeated Krista Rogers, C, 8-3.
    No. 3 – Montana Crow, G, defeated Kayla Rogers, C, 8-5.
    No. 4 – Brittney Rodgers, G, defeated Hanna Davison, C, 8-6.
    No. 5 – Marely Chavez, G, defeated Morgan Hartley, C, 8-3.
    No. 6 – Jana King, G, lost to Joselyn Pulliam, C, 8-6.

    No. 1 – Tucker/Newman, G, defeated Dean/Rogers, C, 8-5.
    No. 2 – Crow/Rodgers, G, defeated Davison/Hartley, C, 8-3.
    No. 3 – Chavez/King, G, lost to Roger/Pulliam, C, 8-6.
