Fremont-Mills drops two in Corner Conference

    For the second straight game, Fremont-Mills suffered a late-inning comeback loss.

    Nishnabotna scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge the Knights 12-6 in Corner Conference baseball on Thursday.
    The Knights (6-7 overall, 5-4 in the conference) had seven hits in the loss, led by Austin Switzer’s 2-for-4 day. Switzer also took the loss on the mound after surrendering eight hits and 12 runs (seven earned) and striking out seven.

    Villisca plated two runs in the top of the seventh and Fremont-Mills didn’t have an answer in their half of the inning in a 10-8 loss last Tuesday.
    Corey Morrical doubled and tripled and drove in two runs and James Hall had two hits and two RBI for the Knights.
    Chase McCollum pitched a complete-game, allowing 11 hits and six earned runs. McCollum struck out eight but surrendered seven walks.
