DES MOINES - Lexi Fisher won a silver medal and the Glenwood girls track team placed 20th in the team standings at the Iowa State Track Meet on Saturday.

Dubuque Wahlert dominated the Class 3A field for the team title, racking up 96 points to easily outdistance second place Davenport Assumption by 32 points.
The Ram's finished with eight points to tie with Chariton and Centerville for 20th place.
“I think we did real well,” said Glenwood coach Brad Rasmussen. “I look at the all-time charts each week and you have several top 10 bests these girls have put in there this week and all season. It's been a great year. This is a great way to cap it off.”
Leading that pack of great finishes was Fisher in the 400-meter low hurdles. The junior and three-time state qualifier in the event, got a quick start and ran well down the stretch, her coach said.
“She ran really well,” said Rasmussen. “She ran well all year for us in the 400 hurdles, the shuttle hurdles, the relays, she's helped out all over. It's great to see her get that.”
Fisher's silver medal in the 400-meter low hurdles in the best by a Glenwood runner at state track since 1984.
While all of the Rams' eight team points came from Fisher's school-record run. But that doesn't diminish what Glenwood did this season, said Glenwood coach Brad Rasmussen.
The Rams' placed third in the conference standings and third in the district race. Rasmussen said those two performances are the best by his team in his more than 20 years at the helm. Just one other time has Glenwood qualified as many as nine athletes as they did for state this season.
The girls other top place winner was Carlie Cooper who fought back from the back of the pack to place eighth in Saturday's 1500 meter final. Cooper was the Glenwood girls' first ever state qualifier in the 1500.
“She didn't get the start she wanted but she had a strong finish,” said Rasmussen.
Also running strong for the Rams at state were Mercedes Liparoto in the 100-meter hurdles (11th place) and the distance medley relay team of Sarah Salerno, Shelby Brewster, Kecia Caudill and Carlie Cooper (13th place) and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Abby Brown, Devin Jackson, Fisher and Liparoto (13th place).
