The East Mills wrestling team went 2-3 at the Tiger Duals in Griswold on Jan. 16.

In the six team dual competition, the Wolverines were edged by the host Tigers 40-42 in the opening dual. East Mills came back to split its final two duals, beating Elk Horn/Kimballton/Exira 54-30 and Treynor 47-36 and losing to Tri-Center 67-12 and Corning 54-30.

Chris Formhals went 5-0 with three pins on the day to earn a spot on the all-tournament team.

Kyle Miller, Johnathon Miller, Royce Stortenbecker, and Brandon Visocky all went 4-1 for East Mills and just missed the all-tourney team. Darryk Leu had three wins for the Wolverines while Tanner Formhals, Caleb Barney and Travis Rolfe each had two victories.

“If I had to pick the top three matches of the day, I would say Brandon Visocky pinning his Treynor opponent, whom he was 0-3 against over the last two seasons, was the best match, said East Mills coach Claude Lang.

Lang said his team's second best match of the day was Caleb Barney escaping a pin, and reversing his Elk Horn/Kimballton/Exira opponent to win with a pin of his own.

The Wolverines are 8-13 in duals this season. They are next in action this Saturday at the Audubon Invitational Tournament.
