East Mills girls get first win

The East Mills girls basketball team recorded its first win of the season on Thursday with a 57-30 victory over Clarinda Academy.

The game served as a benefit for Villisca senior Joel Herzberg, who was seriously injured in a skiing accident over Christmas break.

Katie Fritz had 18 points, 14 rebounds and five assists to lead the Wolverines (1-13 overall, 1-6 in the Corner Conference). Shelby Sommerla had 12 points and five steals in the win.
