The Glenwood Park Board and City Council have given their blessings to a “Blues, Booze and BBQ” event at Glenwood Lake Park on July 4.
Glenwood resident Randy Romens, who also has ownership interest in Keg Creek Brewing, presented informal plans for the event to the city council at its regular meeting Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Romens said the event will include music, a barbecue competition and a beverage garden that would serve craft beers. He said most of the activity would take place in the northeast corner of the park, away from the picnic and playground areas.
Council member Steve Fornoff voiced his approval for Romens’ plan, noting he believes such an event could become “big time” in Glenwood.
Romens said he’s never understood why Glenwood doesn’t have a 4th of July celebration. Council member Kay LeFever asked if the event would include fireworks. Romens said fireworks are a possibility if funding becomes available.
Romens said he will keep the council updated as specific plans are finalized.
