Bluejays fly away from East Mills

Jake Doyle’s 20 points were not enough as Villisca got a three-point play from forward Ryan Focht with less than a minute left to seal a 47-42 Corner Conference victory over the East Mills boys basketball team on Friday.

Doyle connected on 7-of-10 shots, including 6-of-9 from behind the arc for his 20 points. Nathan Day added eight points and four assists.

Focht led the Bluejays with 18.

Treynor 74,

East Mills 28

Treynor forced 25 turnovers and outscored East Mills 47-10 in the second and third quarters in a 74-28 non-conference victory on Thursday.

The Wolverines connected on just 22.7 percent from the field (10-of-44) in the game and were just 4-of-9 from the free throw line. The Cardinals connected on 20-of-28 free throws.

Jake Doyle led East Mills with 13 points.

A.J. Gordon led Treynor with 17 points.

Stanton 63,

East Mills 44

East Mills was outscored 27-17 after halftime as Stanton pulled away for a 63-44 Corner Conference victory last Tuesday.

East Mills hit on just 17-of-46 shots (36 percent), including 5-of-19 from behind the arc, and turned the ball over 15 times.

Luke Schafer led East Mills with 12 points. A.J. Westover added eight point and a pair of steals.

Grant McArdle and Alex Whigham each scored 14 points to lead Stanton.
