Bluejays edge Fremont-Mills, 10-9

The Fremont-Mills baseball team pounded out 10 hits but it was not enough as Villisca edged the Knights 10-9 in Corner Conference baseball on Friday.

Seth Phillips went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two runs driven in for the Knights (1-2).

Clayton Wilson and James Hill each added two hits.

Austin Hansen started the game on the hill for the Knights but left without a decision following the fourth inning after allowing three hits and no earned runs. Derrian Bredberg pitched the fifth, allowing five hits and four earned runs to take the loss.

Fremont-Mills 15,

Clarinda Academy 4

Derrian Bredberg and Austin Hansen combined for six hits and seven RBIs in a 15-4 Fremont-Mills victory over Clarinda Academy.

Bredberg, who earned the win on mound, went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two doubles. Hansen was also 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.

Clayton Wilson added two hits for the Knights.

Red Oak 17,

Fremont-Mills 3

The Fremont-Mills’ bats got off to a slow start and stayed that way in a 17-3 non-conference baseball loss to Red Oak last Monday.

The Knights were out hit 10-4 in the game.

Seth Phillips, Mason Umphreys, Joey Carlson and Derrian Bredberg each recorded a hit for Fremont-Mills.

Clayton Wilson took the loss for the Knights after allowing four hits and six earned runs in just 1/3 of an inning of work.
