Big run, defense stymies Glenwood 40 loss

The Denison girls basketball team opened the game on a 18-4 run and never looked back in a 56-40 Hawkeye 10 Conference victory over Glenwood on Friday.

The Monarchs' quickness gave Glenwood fits on both ends of the court as they built a 34-17 hafltime lead. The Rams (5-5 overall, 3-5 in the conference) never got closer that 17 points the rest of the way.

Chelsea Konfrst led Glenwood with 10 points. Morgan Lucy and Tori Kruse each added eight.

Abby Mendlik led the Monarchs (9-0 overall, 7-0 in the conference) with 19 points. Amanda Eller added 13.

Creston 32

The Glenwood girls basketball team outscored Creston 18-8 in the second quarter to pull away in a 45-32 Hawkeye 10 Conference victory last Monday.

The Rams (5-4 overall, 3-4 in the conference) turned the ball over a season-low 11 times in the win.

Morgan Lucy led the Rams with 10 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots.

Lexi Fisher and Tori Kruse added eight points and three assists each.
