A 21-year-old Fremont County man is expected to recover from injuries he sustained in an accidental shooting Sunday afternoon.
Fremont County Sheriff Kevin Aistrope said Monday Marcus N. Lorimor is recovering from a gunshot wound to the thigh area and will be hospitalized for another three or four days. Lorimor is in stable condition, the sheriff said.
A Fremont County Sheriff’s deputy, Tabor Police officer and Tabor Rescue personnel responded to a call of a gunshot wound at 2247 Waubonsie Ave. around 12:45 p.m. Sunday. Upon their arrival, they discovered Lorimor lying in the driveway of his family’s residence.
According to a report from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Lorimor applied pressure to his wound before rescue personnel arrived on the scene. He was initially treated at the scene by Tabor Rescue personnel. Minutes later, Lorimor was taken to a loading area where he was transported by medical helicopter to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is continuing an investigation into Sunday’s incident.
